PSG Eye Osimhen as Napoli Exclude Striker from Pre-Season Squad

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly making a strategic move to intercept Victor Osimhen’s anticipated return to Galatasaray, following Napoli’s decision to omit the Nigerian forward from their pre-season training squad, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 26-year-old has returned to Naples after a prolific loan spell with Galatasaray, during which he netted an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances. However, upon his return, Osimhen was among six players left out of Napoli’s 30-man squad for their pre-season camp in Dimaro Folgarida under newly appointed head coach Antonio Conte.

Osimhen had earlier submitted a medical report excusing himself from pre-season assessments, signaling his intent to secure a permanent transfer back to Galatasaray. The Turkish champions have expressed strong interest in retaining his services and are currently engaged in negotiations with Napoli regarding a €75 million deal.

However, PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, is reportedly attempting to derail the Turkish side’s plans. According to L’Équipe, Campos—who originally brought Osimhen to Lille in 2019—has been in direct contact with the striker, leveraging their prior working relationship to lure him to the French capital.

Campos’s interest introduces a new layer of complexity to Galatasaray’s transfer ambitions. Despite an enticing offer from Saudi Arabia, Osimhen is understood to be open to a permanent move to Turkey. Galatasaray are currently fine-tuning the financial structure of the deal, which would see €50 million paid upfront and the remaining €25 million settled by the end of 2026. To secure the agreement, the club has reportedly committed to issuing a letter of credit to guarantee full payment, although procedural delays could slow the process.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed ongoing discussions on Thursday via X (formerly Twitter):

“Negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray for Victor Osimhen are again underway right now. Napoli sent their counter-proposal to Galatasaray, ready to make decision soon on new conditions. Osimhen keeps waiting.”

Meanwhile, Bruno Satin—the former agent of Osimhen’s ex-teammate Kalidou Koulibaly—has raised doubts about the viability of a move to PSG. Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, as quoted by Le10Sport, Satin remarked:

“Osimhen? I’m not convinced PSG would rely on him. Luis Enrique prefers a system without a conventional striker, often deploying Ousmane Dembélé as a ‘false nine.’ Signing Victor would necessitate tactical adjustments that could disrupt their current setup.”

Despite Osimhen’s release clause expiring earlier this week, Napoli remain firm on their €75 million valuation.

In addition to Osimhen, Napoli also excluded Cyril Ngonge, Walid Cheddira, Jesper Lindstrøm, Michael Folorunsho, Jens Cajuste, and Giuseppe Ambrosino from their pre-season roster—indicating a potential overhaul under Conte’s new regime.
