Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was laid to rest on Tuesday evening at his private residence in Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic funeral traditions. The solemn ceremony was attended by an array of distinguished figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau; Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine of the Republic of Niger; members of the Buhari family; senior government officials; and other prominent dignitaries.
The burial took place at approximately 5:50 p.m.
President Buhari passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, at the age of 82, following a brief illness. His remains were flown back to Nigeria, where they were received by President Tinubu.
The funeral procession reached Daura at around 4:33 p.m., with the body transported in a military ambulance. Accompanying the late president on his final journey were President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, industrialist Aliko Dangote, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, among other dignitaries and close associates.
