KWAM1’s Apology: AGF and IG Will Make the Decision, States NCAA

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) reiterated on Friday that the decision regarding fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, widely known as K1 de Ultimate or KWAM 1, will rest with the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police, to whom complaints against the artist have been submitted.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, NCAA spokesman Michael Achimugu made this statement in response to KWAM1’s public apology following his contentious encounter with officials from ValueJet Airline at the local terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

In a personally signed statement released to Saturday Beats on Friday, KWAM1 referred to the incident as "unfortunate," emphasizing that it was never his intention to create any disturbance or breach aviation regulations in any manner.

The altercation at the airport was recorded in a video that went viral on Wednesday, showing KWAM1 seemingly attempting to hinder the aircraft’s departure.

The event sparked significant public outrage, leading to a six-month flying ban imposed on the singer by both the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the NCAA.

Additionally, the pilots involved in the incident were suspended and are currently under investigation.

On Thursday, the NCAA announced that it had submitted a petition to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police, requesting an investigation and prosecution of KWAM1.

Nevertheless, the singer issued an apology for his actions in a video that circulated online on Friday afternoon.

When inquired about the NCAA’s subsequent actions following KWAM1’s apology, the spokesman indicated that he had not yet seen the apology.

He further emphasized that the NCAA does not possess the authority to prosecute the case, stating, "We have referred the matter to the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation, who are more suitably positioned to determine and communicate the next steps."

The operation was conducted Monday by team consisting of officers from the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps. The announcement was posted on (previously Twitter) by Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources. "Until the club installs adequate soundproofing and passes LASEPA assessment to ensure it satisfies the noise restriction, it will remain closed." The government will not permit entertainment venues to violate environmental regulations, Wahab continued. "You have to abide by our laws. Peter Obi has already made plans to depart from ADC— Kachikwu

Peter Obi is reportedly already thinking about leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to Dumebi Kachikwu, the party's 2023 presidential candidate. Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, joined other opposition leaders earlier in July to form the ADC as coalition party in order to run against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. Just two days after the debut, Obi, still holding the LP membership card, declared his intention to run for president in 2027. However, according to Kachikwu, Obi will not be permitted to run for president on the ADC platform. He claims that the ADC structure is being repackaged for Atiku's aspirations to become president. The ADC chairman, who has been accusing opposition politicians, especially former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, of stealing his party, stated on Channels Television's Sunday Politics that Obi is going to quit the coalition after realizing that the ADC is set up to support Atiku.

He stated: "For the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the entire ADC organization is being packaged." We can observe what is taking on within the coalition since began alerting people to the situation. It is clearly clear to someone like Mr. Peter Obi that Atiku Ababakar was the target of the entire coalition. According to what we hear, he is now looking in different ways, and other candidates for the position are now aware that the coalition was not coalition at all. It served only as Atiku's vehicle.
